The Jazz Conceptions Orchestra is a nine-piece collective of performers, composers and arrangers, devoted to performing a wide spectrum of music within jazz and beyond. Rooted in swing, while following the evolution of jazz, their extensive repertoire draws from members’ original compositions, adaptations of masterworks of jazz greats, and new original arrangements of standards.
First a testing ground for members’ personal projects, the JCO quickly gained critical acclaim playing to packed houses for regular gigs at Kokopelli’s Jazz Club in Savannah, Georgia. The group’s collaborations with Nashville vocalist Annie Sellick have been highly praised, with Sellick noted as “a perfect complement to the band’s versatile and intricate arrangements.” The band has played concert series, festivals and clubs, including repeat engagements at Iridium Jazz Club, performances which have also been met with considerable praise. The JCO's self-titled debut album has received enthusiastic response from national and international critics.
Vocalist Annie Sellick
Vocalist Annie Sellick might be the best known jazz singer out of her hometown, Nashville, TN. But don’t let her southern drawl, as sweet as biscuits n’ honey, cause you to make assumptions, because there is nothing shy or demure about Ms.Sellick's control - of the stage, the music, her sound, and heraudience. She has an innate ability to make everyone in the room feel like she is performing just for them. A knack for rhythm, hard-swing, phrasing and enlivening a lyric has put her on the stage or in the studio with luminaries such as Joey DeFrancesco, Gerald Clayton, Jeff Hamilton, Mark O'Connor, Bela Fleck, Tommy Emmanuel, and Akira Tana to name a few.
